About Me

Hello! My name is Denise Morocho I am a first generation non traditional student pursuing a undegradute degree in mechanical enginnering at CCNY. Something I’m extremely passionate about is aviation. I’ve been pursuing a career in aviation maintenance for that past five years. My journey in this field has taught me to be resilient and how to navigate a male dominated space and most importantly it taught me confidence. I dedicated a significant portion of my time during my gap year to helping women in male dominate spaces, I was part of an organization Women in Aviation whose main mission is to propel women forward in aviation. I was awarded the Rosie the Riveter toolbox award to commend my “we can do it! spirit” within the aviation maintenance field. During my first semester at CCNY I took initative to find a company in which I wanted to start my CS journey in, the company I matched with was a NFT based company in NYC. The company Boss beauties mission aligned with my personal goal to help women and young girls take the first step into male dominated spaces such as tech and enginneirng. During my time at boss beauties, I was part of a team of aspiring software enginneering interns and we were tasked with designing a protype website for their NFT realtions page. Our goal for this project was to highlight their impact on the next generation of young women and girls through their NFT’s. My time during the internship helped me realize that I want to continue empowering women through my career and that it is possible to do so!
